Everything you need to know about using PDFly.
Yes. Every tool on PDFly is completely free, with no signup, no watermarks, and no hidden limits on the number of files you can process.
For most tools, no — they run entirely in your browser using JavaScript libraries like pdf-lib and pdf.js, and your files are read locally with no upload step at all. Our AI-powered tools (Chat with PDF, Summarizer, Translator, and similar) are the exception: they send extracted text to our server and AI provider to generate a result. See our Privacy Policy for details.
No account or signup is required. Just open any tool and start working with your files immediately.
Depending on the tool, PDFly supports PDF, Word (DOCX), Excel (XLSX), PowerPoint (PPTX), and common image formats like JPG and PNG.
For core tools, processing happens in your browser rather than on a server, so there's no artificial file size cap — practical limits depend on your device's available memory, and very large files may be slower on older devices. The AI-powered tools are the exception: they cap the amount of text or number of pages processed per request, since that text is sent to a server. Each AI tool page lists its specific limit.
Yes, PDFly works in any modern mobile browser on Android and iOS, as well as desktop browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
PDFly needs an internet connection to load the page and its tool libraries the first time. After that, the file processing itself doesn't require uploading your file anywhere.
Try a different browser or clear your cache first — most issues are browser-related. If the problem continues, reach out via our contact page with details of what happened.
PDFly is supported by non-intrusive advertising, which lets us keep every tool free with no account or payment required.
