How to Remove Blank Pages from PDF

By Ayaz · Updated July 2026 · 5 min read

You've scanned a document, and there are blank pages scattered throughout. Or you've exported a file, and extra blank pages appear at the end. Cleaning them up is tedious, but there's an automatic way.

Why blank pages appear

  • Scanning: ADF scanners sometimes pull blank pages.
  • Exporting: Documents exported from some apps include blank pages.
  • Merging: Blank pages can appear when merging files.
  • Printing: Some print settings add blank pages.

How to remove blank pages

  1. Open PDFly's Remove Blank Pages tool.
  2. Upload your PDF.
  3. Adjust the sensitivity — lower is more sensitive (detects more blanks).
  4. Click process — the tool automatically detects and removes blank pages.
  5. Download your cleaned PDF.

How the detection works

The tool analyzes each page and checks how much content it contains. If a page has very little content (mostly white space), it's flagged as blank and removed. The sensitivity setting controls what "very little content" means.

Can it remove blank pages from scanned PDFs?

Yes — it works with scanned PDFs. Blank pages appear as white areas.

What if a page has a watermark?

Watermarks are detected as content, so the page won't be removed.
