Cookie Policy

🍪 The short version
PDFly's PDF tools never require cookies to work. We only set analytics cookies if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner, and you can withdraw that consent at any time from this page. One strictly necessary item — your dark/light theme preference — is stored locally and isn't a tracking cookie.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They're commonly used to remember preferences, keep you signed in, or measure how a site is used. PDFly uses cookies sparingly and only for the purposes described below.
2. Manage Your Cookie Preference
You can accept or reject non-essential cookies at any time. Your choice is stored on this device only.
3. Strictly Necessary
These don't require consent because the site can't function as intended without them. PDFly's core PDF tools do not depend on any of these, but the site itself uses:
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| pdfly_cookie_consent | Remembers your accept/reject choice so we don't ask again | Until cleared |
| theme (localStorage) | Remembers light/dark mode preference | Until cleared |
Both of these are stored in your browser's localStorage, not sent to our servers, and don't identify you.
4. Analytics (Only With Consent)
If you click "Accept" on the cookie banner, PDFly loads the following, which may set cookies or similar identifiers to measure site usage:
- Google Analytics (gtag.js) — page views and aggregate usage patterns. See Google's cookie policy.
- Ahrefs Analytics — privacy-focused traffic analytics used to understand which pages and tools are used most. See Ahrefs' privacy documentation.
Neither service receives the content of any PDF, image, or document you process on PDFly — core tools run locally in your browser and never send your files anywhere.
5. Advertising Cookies
If PDFly displays ads (e.g. via Google AdSense), the ad provider may set its own cookies to serve relevant ads, subject to the same consent choice above. You can also opt out directly via Google Ad Settings.
6. Browser Controls
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking cookies entirely may affect some non-essential features (like remembering your theme), but will never prevent PDFly's core PDF tools from working, since those run locally and don't use cookies at all.
